A Santa Barbara resident since 1992, Margie Nelson was a founding member of the popular vocal band The Swizzle Sisters, doing up fabulous three part harmonies and emulating the “girl group sound” of the 50’s and 60’s.

After a 7 year run with the group, she returned to her first love-the sultry standards and flaming torch songs of the Great American Songbook, as a duo act with Moxie and The State Street Standards.

Currently going solo, she enjoys a close working relationship with gifted keyboardist and arranger Woody DeMarco, guitarist/composer extraordinaire Stephen Geyer and local fixture and virtuoso bassist, Hank Allen.

Over the years, Margie has been seen on stages large, small and miniscule, including the Lobero Theatre, the Bacara, Santa Barbara Concerts in the Park at Chase Palm Park, The Biltmore and Coral Casino, the Santa Barbara Festival of Art and Jazz, Fiesta, The Lemon Festival, The Avocado Festival, El Capitan Canyon, Cold Spring Tavern, Tsunami, Peabody’s, and many other venues, benefits, private parties and special events.

She has been a featured artist of the Santa Barbara Jazz Society’s Sunday Afternoon of Jazz at the prestigious SoHo Restaurant and Music Club. She performed in front of hundreds of jazz fans at the 2nd season of the Santa Barbara Courthouse Jazz Concert Series - the biggest turnout in the series history.

A 5 minute and full length demo of this concert - recorded live - is available on request.
